movin' & shakin'

I'm hoping as I encroach the latter half of my twenties, I can keep floundering in my transient BoBo ways officially close the UHaul tab and have the same mailing address for at least two years.

It all starts with one more truck rental, right?

We've officially been in town for 7 days... and life has never been better.  And action packed.

I've met the most lovely and genial fooderati in this town.  In lieu of flying cardboard, I've had a busier social agenda than I have in...a long time.... well a different kind of busy.  The hustling-putting-yourself-out-there-be-bold-own-what-you-do kind of social agenda [as opposed to the let's-get-tipsy-and-be-amazed-at-things-we-have-in-common]-- meeting the likes of such folks {a critic, scientist, a gastonomista, a patisserie-a} I've also met a handful of others involved in Slow Food Austin... and look forward to meeting many more, partaking in loads of other dinners/parties/tastings/fundraisers of the like.

I was cordially invited to partake in the Slow Food $5 Challenge-- a pot luck dinner hosted by lovlies Shelly and Lisa.  So I brought my mangy beans.  They tasted good...but were definitely a Kindergarten crayon project in comparison to other AMAZING dishes that were brought and served...

I went to bed marinating in memories braised pork belly on potato cakes, homemade spinach & basil pesto pasta, vegan dirty rice {even abiding by my RCA blood/taste/judgement, this was really really good}, pear & arugula salad, tamales...oh and a ridiculous dessert spread of zucchini whoopie pies, zucchini apple crisp, fig tart, creme fraiche ice cream...blahblahblah the lists go on and on....
oh.my.food.coma.
All under $5 a serving.  So take that nasty frozen dinners and fast food.

  1. Austin is glad to have you! And your bean salad was most certainly not mangy- it was delicious. Here's hoping our paths cross again soon...
